In/Out Panel

The In/Out panel is used by a department where employees keep a record of their clock-in and clock-out times.   Up to six pairs of clock-in/clock-out times can be recorded per day.

Let's imagine that Inga Outfield worked the following hours last week:

Thursday 8:00 a.m. - shelved books

11:30 a.m. - unpaid lunch

12:30 p.m. - sorted books

3:30 p.m. - left for the day

Friday 8:30 a.m. - worked circulation desk (including paid break)

1:30 p.m. - unpaid lunch

2:30 p.m. - sorted books

5:00 p.m. - left for the day

What would she do in COLTS II?

First, she would click on the "In/Out" tab.

in out tab

COLTS II would display a blank "In/Out" panel.

Inga would enter her clock-in and clock-out times for the hours that she worked. She would click on the appropriate white entry fields and enter her time. To get from field to field she can either click with the mouse, or use the Tab key on her keyboard.

Notice that Inga shows the time she left for lunch and the time she returned, because she does not get paid for that time. But she didn't show her morning or afternoon breaks, because she does get paid for them.

There are several formats you can use to indicate morning or afternoon/evening.

Each of these mean "eight o'clock in the morning":
8
8:00
8:00a
8:00 a
8:00am
8:00 am
Each of these mean "four thirty-two in the afternoon"
4:32p
4:32 p
4:32pm
4:32 pm
16:32
COLTS II expects each clock time entered on a given day to be later than the previous time.

As you enter hours, the column at the right edge of the panel shows your daily and weekly totals.
