Entering Shift Hours

The Shift panel is where you keep a record of hours for which you are entitled to receive a higher rate of pay for working a regularly scheduled shift of four or more hours between 6pm and 6am. You will only see a Shift tab and panel if your job is eligible for shift pay.
If your job does not have eligibility for Shift pay, you should skip this step and move on to the next page of the Guided Tour. Please check with your supervisor if you are not sure.
Shift tab
First, click on the "Shift" tab. (Remember that the row of tabs you see may not look exactly like the row shown below. It will depend on which time-entry option you are using. If you use Standard Schedule or Non-standard Schedule, you will see a "Work" tab, but you will not see an "In/Out" tab.)

COLTS II will display a blank "Shift" panel.

Shift panel

There are many categories of shift pay, but you will only have access to the ones connected to your job. To select the categories you need, click on the "Select" button on the right side of the screen.

Shift selection

Click in the small boxes to the left of each shift category so that only the categories you need have check marks. When you have finished, click on the "Done" button.

Then, on the Shift panel, for each day where you are entitled to some hours at the shift differential pay, enter the number of hours (to the nearest tenth) in the appropriate category column on the appropriate day.

(If you wish, an In/Out Calculator can be displayed by clicking on the blue arrow that appears next to the field you clicked on. It will calculate your leave hours based on the start and stop times you enter in the calculator. It will store the total number of hours in the entry field, but will not save the actual in/out times.)
NOTE: All of the hours you work, including these hours, must be entered on the In/Out panel or the Work panel. Your entry on the Shift panel is indicating that you are entitled to regular pay for all the hours reported on the In/Out panel or the Work panel PLUS additional pay for only the hours reported here.
